Hi Scott,

This plant would have small bright yellow flowers back a couple of weeks ago. It is broomweed (Gutierrezia dracunculoides). These are native annuals that proliferate thin soiled uplands in the flint hills and across much of Kansas. They become especially abundant with heavy grazing or other disturbances.
