Hi Rod,
Yes, pampas grass, Cortaderia selloana. This grass readily spreads from where it is cultivated. As a result, I see concentrations of the wild plants near residential areas and towns. People really shouldn't grow it in my opinion.

Is this pampas grass. It is spreading in a waterway. The producer cut the heads off to reduce spread. As you can see, some is 8-10 feet tall with crowns the size of bushel baskets, other locations the crowns are dinner plate size and the grass is only thigh
high.
Pictures show height, stem size, head and leaves of the largest plants.
