Dear Brindavana BOTs,
We are happy to share that MILANA team is starting its first Kannada Shale, on Nov 7th, at South Burnswick, We already have about 30 prospective students, which is really encouraging. We also have about 10 volunteers from our BODs and other KCOB members, who have agreed to support the program. On this occasion we would like to share few points for your kind perusal.
- The "Kannada Shales" are being established under the Brindavana initiative - Brindavana Kannada KalisoNa. The plan is to establish many Kannada learning centers. We are starting South Burnswick center on Nov 7th and the next will be in Edison and then in Plans Borough which are starting soon.
- These Kannada Shales will be allocated to group of volunteers. Each Shale will follow the standards designed by Brindavana and should enter in to a MOU. The teachers will volunteers and will not be paid any remuneration.
- The MOU will be for 2 years and KCOB can change the volunteers and allocate the center to new set of volunteers if the performance is below standards. Establishment of the Shale, its running and Governance is defined in the MOU.
- There will not be direct fees to the students, however donations are collected to meet the expenses.
- All the Shales are established in public places like library, utility buildings but not in residential buildings.
- Brindavana has designed a curriculum named as " Sarala Kannada Kalisuva Vidhana" ( SaKaVai), in collaboration with Shiva Gowder of CA, which has eight levels and students will be awarded with KCOB certificates after completion of each level.
- Focus will be on spoken Kannada and students will be participating in Brindavana Cultural programs also.
- All the parents will be followed through to become members of KCOB.
- Currently we will not be paying any rent for South Brunswick building and we plan to run all schools on no cost basis.
- We expect to have near to 100 students across NJ which will definitely contribute to our goal of 500 members by 2016.
Thanks to Milana team for all their valuable support in conceptualizing and designing this initiative. I am attaching the format of the MOU and the student Enrollment form, which the Milana team has reviewed for your reference.
We appreciate in case you have any inputs / suggestions.
With best regards
Ashok
