New issue 4690 by
dan.b...@gmail.com: User option to remove or edit
User-Agent header
http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/issues/detail?id=4690
Currently, k-9 identifies mobile users on an Android platform with the
default 'User-Agent: K-9 Mail for Android' header.
For some users this could be a risk. Despite my general support for the
other proposals to include k-9's version in the header field, an unintended
result for a would-be attacker is easier exploit identification. To
mitigate risk, desktop browsers offer an override or hide option for client
specific headers (see Thunderbird's general.useragent.override parameter).
I propose k-9 offer a similar option. Either an option in Global Settings >
Privacy to hide k-9 specific headers or an option in Global Settings >
Debugging > to modify/add/remove k-9 specific headers.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. I <3 k-9.
