I'm using K-9 on PALM PHONE, which can not work background receive mail.

Task status:
K-9 task lived in Task Switcher:
    -> background receive works
K-9 task not lived in Task Switcher(*):
-> background receive does not work

(*) Other mail apps (ex. CosmoSia) works background receive mail, when task not lived in Task Switcher.

Environment:
  Model: PALM PHONE
  OS: Android 8.1.0
  Protocl: POP3
Battery saving on K-9: NOT Optimized
  Country: Japan

Anyone help me.

I've got resolve this problem by myself.

- To resolve, set K-9 widget on a widget screen (right side window) on PALM PHONE.

Receiving mail at background works fine.

Thank you.

Ah! Basically with the widget running, Android thinks K-9 is running or in use, so it no longer blocks it or puts it to sleep?

Thank you, David.

It no longer puts K-9 process to sleep.

But, rarely, receiving mail at background looks not work.
I couldn't find out that reason.

Hmm. Does your device put its wifi/data connection to sleep, too?

Possibly, there was a time when I operated the Power saving mode options,
that may have sleep WiFi/data connection.

Palm phone USER GUIDE says:
| Power saving mode: Tap to turn Power saving mode on. This will
| reduce the device’s performance by reducing screen brightness and
| limiting connections to mobile data, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.

Now, I set the Power saving mode to OFF.
I will wait and see what happens a little more.
