I just replaced my Samsung Tab S2 with a Tab S6 (with keyboard). I just discovered I've not been sending out emails for the past month. They are stuck in my outbox. There are no messages indicating failure. If I go to account settings and look at the server setup (at the bottom of the list) I get the following error when I click next:

Setup could not finish
Cannot connect to server
(SMTP response is 0 length)

I am able to receive emails just fine.
Also, the "back arrow" at the top left corner is often missing, so there is no way to return to a prior screen.
Kevin.

I am seeing exactly the same failure on my Samsung Tab A. Mail sits in inbox. Setup fails with 0 bytes returned. I tried the Samsung mail app and it sends mail. So port 587 is open, at least for Samsung. I have tried many combinations of settings. The Tab A profile was copied from another Android phone that continues to work. I started using the Tab A about 2 months ago & it was fine until last week. Did you find a cure?

I was not able to find a fix/workaround. I had to switch to the Samsung email app to be able to use email.

Sent from Samsung tablet.

I'm using K-9 on a Samsung Tab S2 (Android 7). It sends and receives mail just fine for both my ISP and GMail. Maybe an interaction with a newer version of Samsung's Android?

K9 works fine on my Tab-S2 also. The battery on my S2 died so I replaced it with the Tab-S6. K9 hasn't worked in either the "tablet" or "DEX" mode (DEX supports muliple windows) on the Tab-S6.

That's discouraging, since I have the S6 on my list in case the S2 dies. :(
