Security software version: MDF v2.0 Release 4

When I first installed K9 mail, about 18 months ago, it reported each of my 2 accounts was occupying about 1.7Mb  This number has gradually crept up until today it is at about 5.5Mb

I don not allow mail to accumulate on my phone.  At any given time, I may have no more than 20 messages that still need to be dealt with, everything else is deleted.  As of right now I have 10 messages in my personal account, taking up 5.5Mb, and 5 in my business account using 4.9 Mb.  The stored messages should all be under 5Kb!!  None of them has any attachments.

Does anyone have any clues on where to look for where the space is being eaten up?

I alway wonder why my messages seem to consume so much storage as well!

Those are tiny amounts of storage. Don't worry about it.

Agree that this is a very small amount.  Have you checked your other folders (i.e. Sent, Drafts, etc.) and deleted any content in those?

In case that the mails are saved in a database: Some database save time by compacting themselves only if they grow bigger than a reasonable amount so there may be a chance that a small temporary memory leak can be intended.

We recently fixed some bugs where database entries could have been kept
when they shouldn't have been. These bugs are fixed in K-9 Mail 5.711
and newer.

Right now messages could also pile up in the local Trash folder when you
often delete messages using K-9 Mail. To get rid of these messages you
have a couple of options:

a) Use K-9 Mail's "empty trash" action. This will remove all messages
from the Trash folder in K-9 Mail and on the server.
b) Use the "clear local messages" action. This will remove all messages
from the Trash folder in K-9 Mail, but doesn't do anything on the server.
c) Manually or automatically sync the Trash folder. This will keep the
number of messages in K-9 Mail's local Trash folder to what is
configured under 'Account settings > Fetching mail > Local folder size'.
Of course this doesn't help if the value is "all messages".

I am in serious need of someone to make some modifications to k9 for my business. Is that possible?

According to
https://k9mail.app/documentation/accounts/add.html

there should be an "overflow menu" to add a new account.
What's that, I don't see it?
Thanks.

From the inbox, there's an arrow pointing left at the top of the screen. Tap that, it takes you to your folders. Tap it again and you can see your accounts, from where you can then add one.
