I have several email accounts configured in K-9 and for the last several months the notifications for several of them have been appearing for several seconds and then clearing themselves.  This issue has spanned across two different phones (LG-V30 and LG-G7 ThinQ) and has happened whether I set up K-9 from a settings file or from scratch.  I have been using K-9 for many years, and want to continue using it, but this issue has recently caused me to miss several important work emails and has forced me to consider finding another client. If anyone could give me some guidance on how to correct the problem I would greatly appreciate it.

Disappearing notifications would be an operating system problem, not K-9.

I thought about that but K-9 is the only app that this happens with. No other app notifications dissappear like this, leading me to believe it is something with K-9 itself.

Might be? K-9 updates haven't been very frequent.

What Android/device? No such problem here on Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 with Android 7.

Issues first popped up on my last phone, an LG-V30 running Android 8. The issue continued on my next and current phone, an LG-G7 ThinQ running Android 8 initially and upgrading to Android 9 currently.

So possibly a problematic interaction with newer Androids, or something peculiar to LG? I'm considering an LG phone.

I have devices running K-9 on an Android 4.4, 5, 7, and 9 with no disappearing notifications. Each syncs with five different IMAP servers.

What manufacturers? Some of them lay their own launchers, notification
systems and such on top of stock Android. I don't know if LG does that,
but I believe Samsung does.

I should reiterate that this only happens with notifications from 4 of the 10 email accounts I have set up in K-9. Two are Gmail, one is Hotmail, and the fourth is a Microsoft Exchange account. When K-9 checks for new mail, all the new mail notifications will come in for all the accounts, and after a few seconds any new mail notifications for those 4 accounts will disappear while the others stay.

I can confirm the issue. K9-Mail on an LG G4 with LineageOS.

There are three IMAP accounts and one Gmail configured. On one of the IMAP accounts, the notifications sometimes vanish after a few seconds following a synchronization run.

Hope that helps as a data point.

I am recently having the same issue - Google Pixel 3XL that I've had over a year. It just started that ghost notification.

What's even more annoying is that I constantly get notifications of new mail and when I open them they date back as far as a month ago or more.

Is there any way to stop that notification?
