K9 on Chromebook

I have been using K9 Mail on a Chromebook for about 6 months now.  (Running Android apps in the development mode).  Most things work well.  The main problem I have is that the hardware keyboard does not work as expected.  Typing works, but the Enter and direction keys do not.  If I flip to tablet mode the on-screen keyboard works fine.  The main reason I use the Chromebook is for the hardware keyboard.  I can compose the email is a word processor and then copy it into K9.  It would be very nice if the hardware keyboard was fully supported.
