Mark read from lock screen

I just upgraded my phone from a Samsung Galaxy S6 to a Galaxy S8. On my old phone, I could pull down with the phone locked and see several lines of text of each message and then I had an option to mark as read. On my new phone, all I see is a notification of the date and time and who the message is from. How can I get that very convenient option back? It seems like it would be something in K9 mail as opposed to the phone but I cannot find it. I loved it!

Got it! Just pull down again and the mark read option appears below the body of the message.
