I am using k9 on a Samsung Galaxy S9.  About 5 days ago it stopped receiving any new emails.  I also cannot send emails.  I went into settings and tried to look at the settings to see if anything was changed but all looks fine.  I tried to change a setting and test it.  It tells me setup could not finish.  Username or password incorrect.

I have NOT changed my user name and password.  I am able to use the same username and password through my desktop to sign on to my gmail.  Does K-9 no longer work with gmail?

I just recently started using my gmail account after moving a couple of domains over to google due to GoDaddy deciding to start charging a monthly fee to have an email box attached to my domains.  I had the same problem of K9 working for a brief time and then it would no longer download new mail.  After a little digging I found some info, that being adding "recent:" (without the quotes) in front of your username would force gmail to give it up.  Lo and behold, that actually worked and now K9 is behaving properly.

Give it a try, I'm no expert but that worked for me...

Gmail should work with K-9 mail using an app-specific password:

After years of using K9 I am giving up on it and deleted it from my phone. Trying some other apps out.

What I don't understand is: on my phone k9 works just fine with gmail. What is the difference that causes it to break for some and not for others. I am using the current beta of K9 on Android 9 using OmniRom on a Moto G5. Which is a wild combination. ...and I use 2-factor authentication. Which is a wild combination I would have not been surprised it it broke...
