GSoC coding started yesterday. How's it going?

Hey folks,

Yesterday was the official kick-off date for summer of code projects.
I hope that the four of you are having fun (and getting yourself at
least a little bit terrified by some of our old code ;)

Students, if you _haven't_ started coding yet, it's time. If you've
run into any sort of trouble as you've been getting going, please drop
your mentor (or me (or another mentor)) a line and ask for pointers,
encouragement or whatever else you need.

Mentors, today would be a good day to ping your students and make sure
that they're happy and have started digging in at least a little bit.
