to K-9 Mail Developers List
I found a few issues open about supporting passwords plus certificate auth at the same time (https://github.com/k9mail/k-9/issues/3933, https://github.com/k9mail/k-9/issues/793). My use case is the same. In order for me to be OK with exposing my mail services to the internet I don't want to just rely on passwords. I want two factors. Certificates and Passwords. Unfortunately on my Android phone I don't see an app that will support it. I've looked at Outlook, Gmail, and Boxer. I'm hoping that it is possible to do in K-9 and hoping it is easy to do.

I understand that this is work for people. I'm happy to help but I don't know enough about K-9 to develop for it. I haven't touched Java in 20 years and have no idea how to build an Android app and deploy it. But if someone is willing to take a shot at doing it, I'm more than willing to help where I can doing testing an looking at the behind the scenes protocols to make sure it is working. Alternately, Is there a way for us to fund development efforts? I can't pay for it myself, but maybe a pool of people can pay for developer time?

What is the likelihood that this change can be implemented?

Thanks,
Scott
