Help, Developers!

At least one ISP is warning that my email client, K-9, will be refused, meaning that I will not be able to use it to retrieve and send emails!

One ISP, Sky, has sent me an email warning:

"In the coming weeks, we're phasing out support for some email clients to make sure everyone is accessing their emails using a client that supports modern security standards.

You can find a little more information here: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/problems-accessing-sky-mail-from-your-email-app

PLEASE update K-9 to satisfy the latest security standards.

K-9 is GREAT!  You all did SO MUCH work to create it.  It will only take a little work, in comparison, to keep it going.

Hoping for a positive response,

Iolo and Peibyn.

You say that like you’ve looked into the problem and know. It’s not a little work, it’s a sizeable project and that’s if Yahoo were playing ball.

Yahoo doesn’t care about allowing support for non mainstream apps - I’ve tried back when I had time:

If you want a more secure email account, move away from Yahoo:

Philip, I feel certain that while upgrading K-9 so that it meets a new security standard will involve work, it will not involve the far greater amount of work that was required to create the entire excellent app.

Anyway, time has moved on and my situation has become more serious.  I will post about it separately.  Please reconsider.

Iolo.
