I am passing along information on three positions that will be part of an exciting new project based in Muscat, Oman. Some of the duties will begin in Fall 2019, but the bulk of the project will run from January 2020. Feel free to forward this information to anyone in your network who may be interested.
An international development company is assisting Oman leadership with a project to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. To commemorate, it seeks to expand STEM education opportunities. The 30-year old Children’s Museum in Muscat will be upgraded to include an expanded technology focus and is slated to re-open in fall 2020. This project seeks advisors for both the design and build out of new exhibit experiences as well as facilitation of STEM and coding programs.
Positions:
Team Leader
The Team Leader will be based at the Muscat STEM Center and will lead on day-to-day management and operations of the Initiative. The Team Leader’s ultimate job is to maintain high quality of delivery, ensure that all who interact with the Initiative have a good experience, and manage the team to create effective STEM learning experiences for students. He/she will also participate in customization of the curriculum, help select staff, and contribute to delivery of STEM curricula, especially in the more intensive engagements like the STEM Camps. As an advisor and collaborator to the STEM Instructors, the Team Leader will be responsible for providing support in the designing of STEM units and lessons, providing content knowledge in STEM, analyzing data to modify activities and forms of assessment, and sharing of best practices. He/she will work with teachers to ensure the use of best pedagogical methods based on the latest academic research and an understanding of local market including trends.
STEM Education Advisors
There will also be two senior technical advisors assigned to the program, one focused on best practices in STEM curriculum and the second on customization of computer and coding education. Advisors will provide strategic oversight to the design and customization of the STEM curriculum as well as focus on the coding curriculum and launch and ongoing coordination with local partners.
