Hi folks-

We are excited to announce a new book, Make: Physics. It covers first-year college level mechanics, with the key twist that the demonstrations are mostly micro:bit and 3D print based. The idea is to make that level of physics available to homeschoolers, after-school programs, and other lower-resource places. We also tried to avoid soldering. However, we embraced calculus, but laid out the book for the most part by doing an experiment first, deconstructing it, and then tying to the concepts and ultimately the calculus notation.

It dovetails with our Make: Calculus book, which as many of you know starts off teaching calculus with LEGO bricks and moves to 3D printed visualizations. All of our Make: books are available in the Maker Shed at https://www.makershed.com/collections/make-author-spotlights-joan-horvath-and-rich-cameron and the usual other retail places. My coauthor and I will be doing a livestream with Dale Dougherty, the founder of Make:, on Friday 7/25 at 1 PM US Pacific Standard Time, joined by a physics teacher friend and an advocate for visually impaired accessibility in the sciences. You can register at https://meet.zoho.com/ykga-wgh-sza.
