I joined the Project H team as their program director last month, and I want to share with you all that we're about to launch a series of workshops in the Bay Area that we're calling "Unprofessional Development." Inspired by this question of "why" that Michael posed earlier, and by the recognition that so much "PD" doesn't actually respond to what teachers want to learn, this is meant to be a space for like-minded educators to ask those questions together.
The first in the series is a creativity workshop on December 11 in Oakland, where we probably won't be using MaKey MaKeys but will instead be checking out things like Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manifesto for Growth and Sol LeWitt's famous letter to Eva Hesse, which are both compiled in a "Maker reader" that we're putting together as well.
It's $150 to register two colleagues from the same school, with a limited number of spots reserved for folks in need of financial assistance.
