The Director of STEM develops and facilitates the integration of STEM education and best practices into the Bullis Signature STEM program. The Director is a facilitator and driver of the school’s mission to fully implement 21st century knowledge, skill-based and customized programs for each student in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
 
The position works collaboratively with K-12 faculty and staff to plan, organize, direct, and implement STEM curriculum. This includes organizing all educational services, training activities and instructional resources necessary to improve student outcomes and instill curiosity and interest in STEM learning. The Director is responsible for teaching up to 3 classes per academic year and creating partnerships within the community to enhance professional development, research, and secure funding sources to continually enhance the STEM program.
 
The Director of STEM oversees the administration of the Innovation and Technology Lab (BITLab), including supervision of the BITLab Coordinator, purchasing, and financial management. The BITLab is a campus hub for STEM activity and is the maker-space for robotics and high-tech design. This space is the home for 3-D and resin printers, vinyl and laser cutters, sewing machines, and work stations.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience planning student-centered, innovative lessons in course-aligned teams and leading students in inquiry-based learning. The candidate will value interdisciplinary thinking and can expertly guide our students as they develop a deeper understanding of our interconnected world through the study of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
