LA Makerspace has been offered the estate of a recently deceased maker, a workshop full of equipment, tools and supplies. We cannot accept because we don't have a facility to receive it. Donation includes a powerful laser cutter, drones, tons of stuff.

For any school that has been thinking of starting a makerspace - It's basically a makerspace-in-a-box.

Wrinkle is it has to be transported tomorrow because the death was sudden and his friends need it removed before the first of the month per the man's landlord.

Does this sound at all possible?

Thank you!

If you are not able to coordinate shipping, and/or shipping costs seem prohibitive....

I can be there tomorrow to pick it up. Do you have an inventory list you can send me? Do I need a uhaul or will an empty van suffice?

Please contact me directly if you prefer.

Hi Mya,

We're in LA and can pick up equipment today or anytime this weekend. We have lots of storage onsite and can support sharing the equipment with other spaces who made need compensate we can't use.

Thanks for sharing! It's imprint it doesn't go to waste.

Donna

Hello,
I am the technology teacher at a new and tiny but growing school in Topanga, with a new and tiny but growing maker program. I would love a donation of any tools etc if you want to share some of the love!

Hi Myra,
I am in the greater LA area and developing a middle school Design Tech program (3d printers, drones, robots, coding.), and would love ANY of the equipment that is being offered up.  I can also pick it up tomorrow.  Just let me know where I need to be.
Thanks,

I know of three LA public schools who are in the midst of developing makerspaces too. They'd be happy to pick up!
