All,

We also have a second position in our middle school for a: Middle School STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Faculty. I cannot speak more highly about my school and the resources and support given to teachers. Join us in Santa Barbara, CA—full job description attached.

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to provide a student-centered classroom environment and positive learning experience, differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners, as well as foster intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills through project-based learning, design thinking, and hands-on experiences. STEM Faculty should know the current theories, techniques, and methodologies of STEM. We run two science labs, a maker space, and a robotics program. 

○ Experience with the following is preferred but not required:
■ 3D printers and 3D print software
■ Laser cutting
■ Router and mills
■ Makerspace tools
■ VEX robotics platform
■ Sphero robotics platform

● Design instruction that emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving through discovery and evaluation while making content relevant to students’ lives today
● Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through Project-Based Learning methods in the following subject
areas:
o Integrated Mathematics (Pre-algebra, Algebra, and Geometry)
o Integrated Science (Physical, Earth, and Life)
o Engineering
o Robotics and Coding
o Computer Science
● Create hands-on project-based learning experiences that incorporate design thinking, technology and
independent research
● Collaborate with colleagues to integrate curriculum across disciplines and participate in the MS STEAM
Electives program
● Work collaboratively with the Associate Head of School, Director of Academic Innovation, Division Coordinators, and faculty to develop interdisciplinarily and cross-curricular projects
● Facilitate lessons and activities associated with being a middle school advisor to foster the emotional
and social wellness of students
● Supervise recess, lunch, drop-off, pick-up, and assemblies when necessary
● Facilitate, create, and participate in a variety of STEM-related admission activities, clubs, enrichment
programming, and other events.
● Participate in the “life of the school” through service projects, assemblies, community garden,
admissions events, mission-related professional development, and advancement events.
● Seek and take part in professional development to enhance professional knowledge and educational
training.
● Actively participate in weekly faculty meetings
