hi everyone,
At my high school makerspace, after a disastrous architectural interpretation of needs, we've got a window that you can see though the manufacturing room from the digital makers room, but the desktop printers basically are facing the same direction, towards the operator, so the students can't see the print as it comes to life (that was the reason for the windows from the first place).

Never the less, at least for the Ultimakers, they need to be turned a lot for changing filament.
So i found a "Lazy Susan" that usually holds those big TV's, from the era of before the flat TV.
But then a colleague argued that the little vibration of that plate (the bearings a little bit shaking, although i think it's a thing with all the "Lazy Susan"s)  will harm the printer in the long term!

what do you think? doe's anyone have any experience with something like that?

i found this two tutorial about how to do it, and maybe there's more out there, but i would like to hear from some one who did it literally.

doe's anyone have an interesting idea of this, basically stuped situation.. .?

I have no personal experience with Lazy Susans but I do have experience wearing 3d printers into the ground.

My only concern with the version you rigged is not the bearings but rather that I would expect the printer to shake a little more during a print because it will be resting on a moving bearing platform and not on its rigid legs.  Even the DIY versions you linked to might benefit from a "brake" to keep the platform stable during a print.

OH. i wasn't condered about the bearing either... (maybe i wasn't clear enough). my concern is the printer itself. i tried it a bit, the prints are coming out fine as always with the UM2+, but my friend was talking about the accumulated damage that will wear the printer a bit by bit. i'm not sure what it would do, and i think that good prints is not enough of an indicator for that damage...

To clarify:
In my experience, 3d printers can vibrate a little when the print head is rapidly going back and forth, for example when printing a quick infill, and that vibrating is amplified if not on a stable platform (in my experience, a flimsy table, but possibly a lazy susan on bearings).  I would be more concerned of the long term impact of those vibrations than those caused by spinning the lazy susan around to change the filament.

The CITRIS Invention Lab at Berkeley has all of their Ultimakers on lazy Susans and they have had no issues. They are just finishing the semester, but tell me they will look for their files (they cut it out on a shopbot) next week. I'll share the files when I get them.
