If you haven’t seen this yet, this is huge - a quality, easy to use, and now FREE (for schools) editor for laser cutters. See below.

Subject: The Cuttle Editor is now free for K-12 Education 🎓

Hi everyone,

Here's the latest with Cuttle.

The Cuttle Editor is now free for K-12 Education

If you are a teacher (or you know a teacher) who wants to use Cuttle in your classroom check out our new Free Cuttle for K-12 Education plan.

This plan provides unlimited access to Cuttle’s powerful web-based editor for all K-12 schools at no cost.

Note: this completely unlocks the Cuttle Editor but does not come with Cuttle Pro content and templates — see below for details.

You can apply by simply filling out the short form on this page. We’ll verify your school’s educational email domain and then all students and teachers who use their school email address will get access to the free K-12 plan.

Students and teachers love Cuttle because:

  • It’s a streamlined interface focused entirely on cut design — other programs like Illustrator or Inkscape have extra non-relevant features and complicated setups which can distract from learning
  • It’s a web-based app that can be used on Chromebooks
  • Cuttle introduces students to parametric design
  • Cuttle allows students to explore coding in JavaScript to create more advanced designs and motivate learning programming

Check out some student projects made by high schoolers using Cuttle or this elementary school lesson plan from educator Lucie deLaBruere.

What’s included and not included

All students and teachers at the school receive:

  • Unlimited access to the Cuttle Editor
  • Unlimited projects
  • Unlimited free downloads
  • Unlimited access to all free templates
  • All core design tools and features of the Cuttle Editor, including uploading images and fonts

The plan does not include any Cuttle Pro content. Specifically it does not include:

We are omitting Cuttle's Pro content from this plan because:

  1. It allows us to offer this 100% free
  2. Our intention is for students to use the Cuttle Editor to design their own creations

We're excited to partner with teachers to inspire and empower the next generation of inventors!

Please read more about this plan and apply if you’re a teacher!

Or forward this email to a teacher who may be interested!

Video Tutorial: Make a Hanging Sign with Multiple Names

In Federico’s livestream from last week, he shows how to create a Hanging Sign with Multiple Names. Inspired by Cuttle Creator Audrey (@min2bedesigns)’s Sardine Family template, he explores how to create a design that automatically grows as you add more names.

Here’s the template he created.

You can catch Federico’s streams live on our Facebook Group on Thursdays at 1pm PT / 2pm MT / 3pm CT / 4pm ET.

Other Improvements and Fixes 🐞

  • Lots of bug fixes for edge cases on Weld and Score and Remove Overlaps. Previously there would occasionally be erroneous score lines which wouldn’t affect the final design but were confusing. Thank you to Bonnie and others for the bug reports!
  • Added new Add Hole modifier to Modify > Advanced
  • Added alignment parameter to the Outline Stroke modifier
  • Fixed an issue where the Google Sign In button would become blank on some browsers
  • On parameters’ … menu, made separate “Extract as Component Parameter” and “Extract as Project Parameter” options

Thanks for sticking with us as we build Cuttle! As always, I love to hear your feedback — reply to this email or chat with us in our Facebook Group or our Discord chat room.

Toby

Thanks, Adam. This is great news! If you haven't used cuttle before, I highly recommend checking it out. It has a low floor, high ceiling, and wide walls. Great for middle or high schools with vinyl or laser cutters.

Agreed. Thanks Adam for this heads up. This could be a game changer for my students looking to iterate quickly and test designs.
Really glad they've essentially given pro features to teachers and students. 👊🏼
