Does anyone have any insight as to why the rastering on this job looks as if it's skipping or has been jolted in some way? (see attached image) It seems to be happening randomly. The job often starts out and ends up fine, but somewhere in the middle of the last several things we've sent to the laser cutter it looks as if the whole thing shifted several times. If you take a look a at the picture you can see the breaks in what should be connected lines.
Thank you in advance for your help!

I personally haven't had that happen on our FS, but I suspect it's the X axis belt tension. I found this on youtube, the section of relevance starts around 5:30.

I've had jobs where engraving looks a bit misaligned, but I found it was the result of my material sliding during the process. I've since been taping down my material to the honeycomb grid.

Erin,

This looks like a mechanical problem. Inspect the gantry belts for worn/broken teeth or insufficient tension.

Hi All,

You seem to be a solid core of FS laser cutter users. Would you mind sharing some of your thoughts and experiences as to why you chose FS over other vendors? We are in the market for a laser cutter and FS certainly looks to hit the right price point. I just have some reservations as to their reliability.

Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated!

Do any of you all know how to help with three problems I'm having:

1. The laser cuts stronger at one end than the other
2. The auto focus z plunger (piece that is gold color and depresses to check for depth) has come off and doesn't screw back on
3. The chiller is beeping. Not sure exactly what fluid to add and how much.

I too am in need of some support. Full Spectrum is not answering their service line.I'm running a makerspace over in East Palo Alto at McNair Academy (public middle school). I've attached photos.

best,

Ben

#1.  In my experience this is caused by a misaligned laser.  causing it to be out of focus just enough to affect cutting power.

#2.  I dont have experience here, but can you manually focus the tool as a work around?

#3.  I used distilled water.  Check the user manual (with a Mandarin speaking buddy on hand...) to check.  I would drain, refill and run for a bit.  Also, there might be a temperature sensor going into the machine itself you have disconnected/misconnected/etc.

1. When our Epilogue Laser cutter wasn't cutting evenly across the board, it was because the cutting bed wasn't level. Our user manual didn't have instructions on how to level the bed so I had to call the company to email me the instructions.

2. We prefer manual focusing as well since the autofocus plunger can get quite dirty and damage the material you're cutting.
