Hi all -

Want to spend a day surrounded by creative kids, Lego robots, and joyful chaos? FIRST LEGO League Challenge is looking for volunteers for this season’s UNEARTHED tournaments (all about archaeology!). It’s a fun, rewarding way to spark curiosity and strengthen our local STEAM community.

Most events take place the first three weekends of November, and you can choose a single day or full weekend. Any necessary training is provided. You can see details in the pasted email below. I'm also happy to answer any equestions to the best of my ability.

Most of the folks I know are unable to volunteer becase we are already affiliated with a current FIRST robotics team. But I did was a volunteer judge before I was a coach, and it was hilarious and interesting. And, who knows? It might inspire you to start a team (if you don't coach already).

Subject: [ncaflljudge] Welcome to new season for FLL Challenge / Upcoming Judge Advisor training

Esteemed FLL Challenge Judges -

Welcome to our new FIRST LEGO League Challenge season called UNEARTHED.  All about archeology which should make for some interesting innovation projects.

This season all of our Qualifier Tournaments will be on the first 3 weekends of November and they will be going live tomorrow (Monday 10/6) for volunteer signups! We will have ~20 qualifiers with the majority on the 3rd weekend (November 15 and November 16).

Reminder if you are affiliated with any FLL Challenge team this season, please remove yourself from this group and please do not apply (or be assigned) for any Judge (or referee) role this season.

As we have done for the past several years, we would like all of our Judge Advisors  and anyone interested in learning how to be a Judge Advisor to join us for an in person training - we will be augmenting the current FIRST training for Judge Advisors including sharing additional resources that we have found useful such as sample scripts, rubric samples, digital OJS, and more.

Sunday October 12 from 4-7pm at The Play Space,   2215 Oakland Road Suite B   San Jose CA  95131

Light dinner and refreshments will be provided.

To RSVP please email Nicki at npi...@playingatlearning.org   Please include which qualifiers (if any) that you have already committed to.  List of qualifiers

Thanks, Jill
