Good Afternoon Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could offer suggestions for a scheduling tool?! I created an email for our maker space and am using Google Calendar. I have 7 different calendars: 1 maker space sign out, 3 separate maker carts teachers can sign out, and 3 breakout edu carts. Anytime someone signs out one of the 7 items I have to quickly go in and mark it as free so the other items can be checked out. Next year I have five more items that teachers will be able to check out like a heat press and mug press.

I need a tool that can allow different items to be signed out for different amounts of time. For example, our maker space is for 40 minute periods, our maker carts are for entire days, and our breakout carts are for 80 minutes or two periods.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance!
Katie

Maybe use appointment slots on Google Calendar. You can have multiple appointment types for different lengths of time. Teachers can sign up for an appointment as a way to book the thing they’re taking out.

Does your school have a library? If so, book these as resources in your library system, that is built to handle these types of requests.

I used a feature that I believe Google still has called Resources. I added the Maker Room as a resource, a teacher would make a calendar event and add the Maker Room. You can also view the Maker Room's calendar to see who has signed up. I used it for carts, school vans, etc.  as well.

I suggest using Airtable.com  It is free for the volume you need.  It looks like a spreadsheet but it is actually a database program which gives you a lot more flexibility.  It is very versatile but it will have a bit of a learning curve to set it up the way you need it.   You can contact me directly if you want to discuss this
