Colleagues,
If you know how to convert a .bmp graphics file to .jpg or .gif for use on
a web page, please let me know via email...
Thanks for your help.
Esther Richey
I'd also like to know about doing the reverse; jpeg or gif to
.bmp or other Windows usable files. Thanks!

Dear Esther,
I use Paint Shop Pro by Jasc. It's a shareware program that can be =
downloaded from the net. To convert files just select the appropriate =
format (giff or what ever) and save the new file.
Sincerely,
Tim Hopkins

The program I use to convert my graphic files is Lview Pro. Here is the
website where you can download it free.

Hi,
To convert a .bmp to .gif or .jpeg and vice versa, you need a paint
program that will do that. I would highly recommend downloading "Paint
Shop Pro." There is a shareware version of this at TUCOWS website
<http://www.tucows.com>
This is the best paint program that I've seen around for the money. I can't
afford Adobe ($500 +), but I could afford this one! NUMEROUS sites that
I've visited have also recommended this program. The shareware version will
work for you without any payment on your part. However, if you want all of
the "bells and whistles," you'll need to
purchase the PRO package for around $100.
Visit my site and you can see some images that I've created using Paint Shop
Pro. My address is in my signature file.
FOOTNOTE: If you're thinking of converting .bmp, .tiff, etc.. to use on
your webpage, you need to think about the copyright issues of doing that.
Using Corel, New Print Shop, etc... images in your classroom is one thing,
but to use their images on the web is another. By using these images from
programs you've purchased at school or at home, they were usually sold for
the purpose of classroom use. By publishing these images on the Internet,
you may be infringing on their "intellectual property;" you maybe
prohibiting their chance of "making a sale" to other users.
If you're looking for a FANTASTIC webpage filled with pointers to other
exceptional graphics, sounds, etc., visit this site:
<http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/1272/index.html> This is an
award winning site!
Take a little on-line quiz to see how knowledgeable you are on copyright
issues concerning the Internet: <http://www.news.com/Quiz/Entry/> This
quiz has been published by C|Net's Search.com.
