The Bhavas
The 12 Bhavas:- The Zodiac is divided in one more way. Relative to the
position of the
Earth, the zodiac is divided into 12 bhavas (houses). Just as the
proper motion of planets is
reflected by their degree positions in rashis (signs), the diurnal
(illusionary, relative motion
of the planets as perceived from the Earth) motion of the planets is
shown by their
placement in astrological houses. The houses represent the various
areas of life. The
planets and signs that occupy the corresponding bhavas (houses) will
affect those areas of
life. The twelve bhavas (houses) represent the totality of the
existence as experienced by a
human being.
The chart is divided into 12 spaces, called "bhavas" (houses). The
bhavas represent the
various areas of your life in which the planetary effects and
interactions can take place.
Some areas of life are represented by more than one bhava. The logic
of how and why
each of the 12 bhavas has been assigned its significations has four
major parts: life
chronology correspondence, physical correspondence, Rashi
correspondence and relative
counting. The 3 correspondence principles provide the foundation
significations, whereas
the relative counting principle extends the list to an almost
limitless array of significations.
The correspondence principles all have a similar basis: considering
two holistic values,
there are precise connections between all the major parts of each. For
example, when we
consider the solar system with its planetary bodies, and the human
life with all its aspects,
we can find precise correlations between each heavenly body, and
specific aspects of
human life. In the case of life chronology correspondence, the full
span of life is mapped to
the chart. The12 houses correspond to various stages in life. The
Ascendant corresponds to
birth itself, the second house early childhood, etc up to the 12th
house which corresponds
to death. In the case of physical correspondence, the full body is
mapped to the chart. The
first house corresponds to the part of our body that is born first
(the crown of the head), the
second house to the face, etc. upto the 12th house which corresponds
to the feet. The
Rashi correspondence maps the zodiac itself to the chart.
In natural Zodiac the First house corresponds to the first sign (Mesha-
Aries), the second
house to the second sign (Taurus-Vrishabha) etc. The first house -

Here are the main significations of each house:
The First House represents the Self.
The Second House represents your financial assets.
The Third House represents courage.
The Fourth House represents happiness.
The Fifth House represents your children.
The Sixth House represents your enemies.
The Seventh House represents your spouse.
The Eighth House represents your vulnerable points.
The Ninth House represents your fortune.
The Tenth House represents your career.
The Eleventh House represents your income.
The Twelfth House represents the end of everything.
The First house - called lagna, Arudha Bhava or Tanu Bhava: - This
house represents
the birth itself, beginning of life, childhood, becoming an
individual. It represents life overall
the self, and the whole body or physical Body, Appearance, complexion,
character, health,
temperaments or nature, longevity, general happiness, strength, place
of birth, self-respects,
peace of mind, Fame. Whatever type of influences gets the first house
will have its impact
on the entire life, the personality. Any events are happening during
and shortly after birth
also belong to the 1st house. Physically, the 1st house corresponds to
the 1st part of our
body, the head in general, and the skull and brain in particular. It
correspondence with
Mesha (Aries) adds physical mobility and overall strength.
Gemini, Virgo, Libra and Aquarius signs are strong in this house and
Sun is the Karaka for this house.
Mercury and Jupiter get directional strength in this house
The Second house - called Kosha or Dhana Bhava: - The second house
represents the
family we are born into, which we get immediately after birth. Along
with the family we also
get the social status of that family that determines to a certain
extend our financial future.
Therefore wealth is signified too. Physically, the face is part of the
body next to the skull.
The face, right eyes and vision, nose, teeth, and mouth are all
signified here, and so are
taste or food habits, eating and speech or speaking which are done
with the mouth. The
correspondence with Taurus, (fixed, Earthy and ruled by Shukra
(Venus)) adds to the
signification of wealth and luxuries. Thus it represents your
financial assets or self wealth,
bank balance, family status, family learning or higher education,
lawyers, banker, Marka
House. Accumulated money or valuable things like jewellery, precious
stones, longevity of
spouse or longevity of marriage (being eight house from the seven
house).
Jupiter is the Karaka of this house.
The Third house - called Bhatru bhava or Sahaja Bhava: - The third
house represents
the interaction with siblings and is a very important part of the
early life experience (before
school years). It is a great journey of exploration and discovery,
learning how to
communicate, and building up strength and independence. Physically,
the next parts of the
body are the shoulders and arms. The significance of this house is
right ear, arms and
hands also bring in manual dexterity. The correspondence with Mithuna
(Gemini) adds
communication.
It represents stamina, courage, physical fitness, hobbies, documents
agreements, talent or
mental inclination, siblings. efforts, short journeys, writings,
communicative skill, longevity of
parents and self, servants, friends, neighbors, reason of death, close
relation, railways,
postal dept.,
Mars is the Karaka for this house.
The Fourth house - called Shukha bhava or Bandhu Bhava: - The fourth
house
represents the full awareness of having a home and mother which are
the next significant
experience. The home environment and extensive interaction with the
mother, cultivate a
frame of mind, and the emotions of the individual. The mind and
emotions are in turn the
basis for happiness. Physically, next in line is the chest, including
the heart and lungs. The
signification of heart reinforces the significance of emotions. It
correspondences with
Karaka (Cancer) adds a connection with water and bodies of water, and
again reinforces
the signification of mind and heart.
It represents happiness, mother, vehicles, residence, parental house,
property, lands,
conveyances, cattle, comforts or luxuries, domestic happiness,
happiness of all type,
masses or public house, parliament, profession of the spouse, basic or
1st education,
Moon, Venus, Saturn and Mars are the Karkas for this house. Moon and
Venus get
directional strength in this house.
The Fifth house – Putra Bhava: - The first step away from home is
school. The fifth house
represents education and learning, intelligence and one's mental
inclinations. The liver,
stomach, and spleen are next after the chest. Note that the division
between the 4th and 5th
house corresponds to the diaphragm that separates the chest from the
space below. The
liver is an extremely intelligent and complex organ that regulates a
lot of chemical
processes in the body. The liver is also able to re-grow itself if
parts are removed. This
supports the fifth house signification of intelligence, and adds
creativity. Simha (Leo) is the
corresponding sign, and adds to the signification of intellect (Surya
represents heart).
It represents your children, Poorva Punya or Karma of past or previous
life, education,
speculation, intellect, aptitude, education, knowledge of scriptures,
devotion to god, Shruti
(Vedas), Smriti (knowledge of Mantras), Mantras sidhi or spiritual
practices, flirtation or love
affair, amusements, good or bad memory/mind, moral or immoral,
emotions, dignity, fall
from status, change or break in profession.
Jupiter is the Karaka.
The Sixth house - called Ripu bhava or Ari Bhava: - Once we build a
social structure
through the school environment, we are likely to make friends and
enemies. Close friends
we bring home, and are also signified by the 4th house. The enemies
are signified by the
6th house. Enemies also bring worries and anxieties. The hips and
small intestines are
under the stomach. The small intestines have the capacity to extract
nutrition, but keep out
bacteria from the food. A job like that in the world outside would be
an incredible
painstaking task. The sixth house represents service, detailed work,
and problem solving
and making a medical diagnosis. Virgo corresponds to the sixth house.
The discriminative,
detailed and orderly nature of the 6th house is reinforced.
It represents your enemies, quarreling, fighting, cruelty, house of
deficiency, disease or
illness, accidents, injuries, loan or debts, losses, opposition,

The Seventh house - called Dara bhava, Kalattra Bhava or Yuvati Bhava:
- The 7th
house is opposite of the 1st. The act of marriage takes us as far away
as possible from who
we are by ourselves: it is an agreement to live with, to accept, to
love and to support
someone who may be totally different than yourself. The marriage
brings about relations
with the in laws, and people in general. Marriage is also likely to
bring travel, as at least part
of the family is not under the same roof. The lower part of the belly,
lower abdomen and
pelvis, (the region below the navel according to Parashara) is next in
line. This includes the
large intestines and kidneys. Libra corresponds to the 7th house,
ruled by Shukra (Venus). it
reinforces the significations of marriage, social interactions and
travel.
It represents your spouse, partnership business, foreign travel, Marka
house. Marriage,
spouse (life partner0, business partner, Secret love affair, trading,
journey, attainment of
position or post (tenth from the tenth house), public image, death,
Karaka is Venus, Scorpio sign and Saturn gets directional strength in
this house.
The Eighth house – Randhra bhava or Mrityu bhava : - After marriage, a
lot of readjusting
is required. There is a separation of the family one was born in and
one's own stability and
integrity is tested. It is a stage in life that can be very
vulnerable. If one does things right at
this stage, the foundation is in place for a long healthy life. This
stage is a junction point of
past and future, and the 8th house indicates Astrology for that
reason. The 8th house
corresponds to the lowest part of the trunk, the genitals, anus and
eliminatory system.
Scorpio corresponds to the 8th house, but ruled by the forceful Mars;
add the signification of
sudden calamities to the 8th house. On the positive side, the sharp
and analytical Mars can
also add an element of research to this house. Moon in this house is
very inauspicious

The Ninth house - Dharma bhava-or Bhagya bhava : - The ninth house
starts the third
group of 4th houses. Supposing, the person is settled and is
establishing his life purpose at
this stage. It is a time for getting deeply tuned to one's Dharma
(path) in life. The
transformative qualities of the 8th house settle into a coherent
pattern in the 9th house. The
9th house corresponds to the upper part of the legs, the thighs.
Sagittarius corresponds to
the 9th house. The ruler of Sagittarius is Jupiter, adding higher
education and fortune to its
significations.
It represents your fortune, father, teacher, guru or master, spouse of
sisters or brothers,
Dharma House, spirituality. pilgrimages, religious inclination,
worship, devotion and religious
learning, karma of present birth, charity, kindness, wisdom, fame and

. The Tenth house - called Rajya bhava or Karma Bhava: - The tenth
house represent the
working years, the time of life one is fully productive and career
oriented. The 10th house
represents the source of livelihood, the everyday work we do. It is
the most active house,
and is generally connected with the way we do things, and the way the
outside world labels
us. The 10th house corresponds to the 2nd part of the legs, the knees.
Capricorn
corresponds to the 10th house. Saturn is ruler, signifies routine
work, and the movable
property adds to the active nature of the 10th. The element of Earth
ties the 10th house
down to mostly physical and materialistic matters.
It represents your career. Occupation or professional excellence,
source of livelihood,
Government, Govt. service, honor from Govt., political power, house of
father, fame, wealth,
sacrificing nature, performance of sacred and religious deeds,
position or status in life,
reputation,
Karaka are Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn and Aries, Taurus and Leo
signs become strong
in this house. In this house Sun and Mars get directional strength.
The Eleventh house - Labha Bhava: - The eleventh house represents the
fruits of our
actions: income, and general fulfillment of desires. It also
represents the years after the
career is over, enjoyment of a pension, having time to spend with
friends, following up on
aspirations that have been lingering. The 11th house relates to the
3rd part of the legs, the
calves and shins. The 11th house corresponds with Aquarius. The air
quality gives this
house some volatile characteristics (aspiration, hopes). Saturn
represents the return of
good investments made in life (such as building up a pension). It also
adds older siblings
and older people in general.
It represents your income, Gain, achievements, fulfillment of desires/
hopes, nature of
earning, getting rewards, honors, titles, elder brothers-sisters,

The Twelfth house - Vyaya bhava- called Vyaya, loss or Moksha bhava:-
This house
represents the final stage of life, and the inevitable death that
concludes it. Any kind of loss
or expenditure is signified by the 12th. Positive applications include
investments, donations,
and getting rid of unwanted things. Negative applications are death,
losses, unexpected
expenses, theft. The 12th house represents the last portion of the
legs, the feet. The 12th
house corresponds to Pisces. Jupiter adds a spiritual value to the
12th, and the loss of
bondage to the relative aspect of life is indicated.
It represents the end of everything. Expenditure on good or bad
account, investment, loss,
foreign country, hospitalization, jail, Ashram, final emancipation,
divine knowledge, sexual
enjoyment, foreign travel or country, living in foreign country secret
enemies, mental worries,
bed pleasures, loss of sleep, secret learning, doing secret work, loss
of spouse misfortunes,

Maraka houses and planets
The eighth house from the Lagna is the house of longevity. The eight
from the eight house
is the third house, an alternative house of longevity. Twelfth house
from any house is the
loss of that house so second and seventh houses are the loss of third
and eight houses
respectively, which cause loss of longevity, and therefore they are
called death inflicting
houses or Maraka houses.
The seventh and the second lords also become the killer or maraka
planet. The planets
posited in the maraka houses, with the killer planets aspected by the
killer planets also give
death. Any Planet have inflicting powers to become maraka or killer
planets. The lord of the
twelfth house is also considered a maraka. Saturn is the unconditional
maraka for any lagna.
Rahu if placed badly in six, eight or twelfth house also becomes
maraka.
Remember:- It is not necessary that only these planets can give death
in its dasha or
Anterdasha. Study the chart for span of life as per standard
principles of astrology with PAM

of the planets as perceived from the Earth) motion of the planets is

Some areas of life are represented by more than one bhava. The logic
of how and why

positions of the planets in the signs and houses are depicted in what
is called the
Horoscope. Evaluation and understanding of the interactive influences
of these three
main elements constitutes the interpretation of your horoscope.
Houses character
Trikona houses: - 1st - 5th - 9th. Most benefic houses & gives wealth,
name, fame, high
status & called Lakshmi-Sthana. They are strong in same order.
Kendra house: - 1st - 4th - 7th - 10th. All these houses provide
strength to the horoscope &
considered benefic & known as Vishnu-Sthana. They are strong in same
order.
Trishadhya houses: - 3rd, 6th, 11th, called bad houses & it gives bad
result in their dasha.

Western half: - 4th to 10th houses & Eastern half: - 10th to 4th

Dharma House (Fire) :- 1 – 5 - 9 Aartha (Earth) :- 2 - 6 - 10

Maraka houses and planets
The eighth house from the Lagna is the house of longevity. The eight
from the eight house
is the third house, an alternative house of longevity. Twelfth house
from any house is the
loss of that house so second and seventh houses are the loss of third
and eight houses
respectively, which cause loss of longevity, and therefore they are
called death inflicting
houses or Maraka houses.
The seventh and the second lords also become the killer or maraka
planet. The planets
posited in the maraka houses, with the killer planets aspected by the
killer planets also give
death. Any Planet have inflicting powers to become maraka or killer
planets. The lord of the
twelfth house is also considered a maraka. Saturn is the unconditional
maraka for any lagna.
Rahu if placed badly in six, eight or twelfth house also becomes
maraka.
Remember:- It is not necessary that only these planets can give death
in its dasha or
Anterdasha. Study the chart for span of life as per standard
principles of astrology with PAM
method and applying others types of dashas also is necessary to find
out Marka period.
These above dasha can gives bad health also if not placed well in the
chart.

It has results of all planets in different Houses but Venus is missing, can you arrange that also.
