Dear JY Family,

This past weekend in Calgary was a marvelous success, nothing but the at-most praise to our Lord Jesus Christ!!

We were so privileged to have Boban Uncle and Mohan Uncle here from Toronto on a busy, exhausting, tiring schedule from

Thursday afternoon until Sunday night! Packed Schedule but so many blessings! 

On Thursday they arrived in town and were briefly taken on a sight seeing tour with Calgary core team members Emil and Gennie.

Then in the evening we all gathered together as a team and began to do personal sharing and get an idea of what was expected

for this busy action packed weekend!

On Friday morning, we started the day with a 9am meeting with the Bishop Fredrick Henry, the head of the Diocese of Calgary.

He was excited to learn about what we are doing with the Jesus Youth Conference in Toronto! He gave us the full support of the

diocese and promised to be fully supportive of all our future initiatives. Then we were able to have a meeting with the Youth

coordinator with the diocese, Mary-Anne, who was also positive and supportive in what Jesus Youth wanted to do. She already

suggested future events that we can be involved in and get great exposure with the people of Calgary!

Then we decided to grab lunch at a local place in downtown called "The Big Cheese" - Everyone Ordered the Philly Steak Poutine! :)

Afterwards, they did some errands for the fundraiser and had an evening dinner and music Jammmm. Boban Uncle pulled out his 

awesome bass guitar skills and many people came from different corners of the city to jam to some praise and worship tunes!

On Saturday morning, we had the fundraiser "Learn to Cook with Chef Mathew". It was a tremendous success! We raised alott of money!

We had lots of fun! We had great fellowship! We had a six course meal :) Everyone got to know each other a little better. We had people

of all ages, all cooking, laughing, having a great time, and being in fellowship together as a Jesus Youth group! It was perfect!

We also had a group come from Fort McMurray, Alberta (8 Hrs North of Calgary) that drove down just for this JY Experience Weekend!

They were so positive and fully committed to a Jesus Youth group there. We had a special meeting with parents/elders in the movement

where Boban Uncle and Mohan Uncle communicated the importance and significance of their involvement in JY Calgary! It was great!

Then we had a special meeting with the Fort McMurray group in order to help them and encourage them to continue the small prayer

meeting they have going on there. Special thanks to Gerrin George for his weekly commitment to the people of Fort McMurray!

We had an awesome JY Saturday prayer meeting at St. Luke's Parish at 6pm. The basement was packed with people, must have been 

45-50 people! With the music ministry and all the willing people, the place was on fire! So much energy, the spirit was moving everywhere!

It truly was an EXPERIENCE! I believe it was truly a defining moment for the weekend as people got to truly capture a glimpse of what the

Jesus Youth Movement can be in Calgary!

On Sunday morning, Emil took both uncles on an excellent tour of the Rocky Mountains! Boban Uncle and Mohan Uncle were speechless! 

Jaw dropping in awe! They couldn't believe something like this existed... let alone in Canada! Truly shows the beauty of the Earth God created :)

Then we had the main event! JY Experience at 2pm. Around 50-60 people came out to the big hall nicely decorated by all the core 

team members (Gennie, Jasmin, Emil, Joel). It was a great event! Jincy and Liza did an excellent worship. We had many new faces,

lots of new people! They all came out to get a quick understanding of what Jesus Youth is, what it can do for them and their 

families, and how they can get involved!

At 4:30 we had the Syro-Malabar Mass and we had the privilege to get a special announcement from Boban Uncle and Mohan Uncle

for all the parishioners to tell them about Jesus Youth in Calgary and invite them all to the Conference in Toronto! It was a great opportunity

for people here to speak to leaders in JY and to get many of their questions answered, and establish the trust of families. We started getting

a pouring out of donations from many people towards the end of this weekend as more and more people began to understand and accept 

what Jesus Youth can offer Calgary!

Then we had a final meeting all core members to wrap up a blessed weekend and make some plans for a future road map for the time between 

now and the conference. A great time of fellowship and a great closing to an amazing weekend! 

I just want to first of all thank each everyone of you in the Jesus Youth National Team for all your prayers and support 

for making sure that this weekend would be a success! Your prayers were felt every step of the way!

I also want to thank the Calgary Core Team for all their hard work - Joel Looyis, Jincy Samuel, Emil Joseph, Gennie George, Jasmin Kottayil, 

and our Animator Sijo Mooken. They were truly amazing, you couldn't honestly find a better team in Canada!

I once again thank Boban Uncle and Mohan Uncle for accepting the invitation to come out West and be present in the Jesus Youth

movement in Calgary! We know how hard (and expensive) it was for you to come here in your busy schedule but we are forever grateful!

I ask everyone for your continued prayers and support for Western Canada and specifically for all the future initiatives that we do in Calgary, Alberta!
