Dear Friends in Christ,
Greetings from the National Council!
As most of you are aware, we are having a period of Eucharistic adoration from Ash Wednesday till Pentecost Sunday (February 10th to May 15th). We are planning to organize it slightly differently this year. As we are approaching the 'year of mercy' announced by Pope Francis, we thought of having the first 50 days of adoration at our JY Centre in Sheffield and collaborating with other local movements and Church. When we met Bishop Ralph & Fr. Chris at the Cathedral to propose this initiative, they suggested we do it in St. Marie's Cathedral instead since they are already opening up the Cathedral and planning a 'door of mercy' initiative wherein the Cathedral will be open all day & night with confessions happening throughout the day. St. Marie's Cathedral is situated on the high street, in the city centre and when discussed in the National Council we thought it was a beautiful opportunity to work alongside the Church in reaching out to passerbys and other people on the high street with the message of God's mercy & love. Hence, it was decided to go ahead with the offer.
Jesus Youth UK invites you all to be part of this wonderful and enriching experience by encouraging you all to come for at least a day or two to the Cathedral. Accommodation & refreshments will be arranged at the Cathedral House alternatively at our JY Centre in Sheffield. The second half (50 days) will be like earlier years, in different parishes across the country.
The Awakening Team this year is led by Arsha Babu and either Arsha or her team members will be calling you all in the near future to check if you could offer to spend atleast a couple of days to support the initiative at the Cathedral. If you feel inspired to take longer commitments please do not hesitate to contact the team. Further information regarding Awakening 2016 will follow in due course.
Looking forward to your prayers and cooperation for the success of this initiative.
Love & prayers,
Bejoy Mathew
