What are you doing this Holy Week and Easter? I would love to invite you to join me this year in walking with London Leg of Student Cross! Student Cross is a cross-carrying pilgrimage (not just for
students!) which takes place in Holy Week, this year from 18th-27th March 2016.
We meet in Epping on the Friday evening and walk for 7 days arriving in Walsingham on Good Friday where we meet ten other legs and celebrate Easter together. During the week we are greeted on our way by parishioners in the villages
we pass through, who offer us a warm welcome and more tea and cake than you can ever imagine. We sleep on church hall floors and we are even welcomed into the homes of parishioners to enjoy the luxury of a bed one night. Many of these hosts have been welcoming
the leg for decades! In Walsingham, Easter is a truly joyous celebration! Although of Catholic origin in the 1940s, Student Cross is an ecumenical organisation and we worship together in many different styles and welcome pilgrims
from all Christian backgrounds.
Fortunately, we don't have to carry our bags as well as the cross so if walking isn't for you but you would like to be involved in the support team then we would also love to hear from you! Throughout the week we have a support
car which some pilgrims take it in turn drive so walkers can take a well-earned break if needed - there's no necessity to walk every step and the support team's roles are invaluable. There are bursaries available from the Student Cross Association so don't
be put off by the cost. If you are a musician, bring your instruments - singing on the road and music making in the evenings is definitely a feature of the week.
Come and enjoy a wonderful experience of friendship, community, worship, music, prayer, plenty of fun and a mountain of cake! This will be my eighth Easter with Student Cross and I have the privilege of leading London Leg this
year. So if you are interested, take a look at the website (
