I think it's safe to say that St. Mark's would be pleased to host a signature drive. Would someone from the campaign be willing to speak at that meeting (on Zoom) if they're available?Best,BartOn Fri, Jan 29, 2021 at 1:11 PM Martha Reyes <pattt...@gmail.com> wrote:Good Morning Bart,I am unsure if you are aware, but we had our first signature gathering event this past weekend at The Good Shepherd Church in Sahuarita. We collected a total of 80 signatures in 4 hours and that was only after a week's worth of promotions and what we felt as a very rushed process. In the future, we would like to have more time to plan and promote the event. We would like it to take place at St. Marks as it is central to Tucson and you have a large parking lot. On our end, we would be going door to door in the area around St. Mark's leaving flyers for those that live in precinct 80. We also will share the event on our social media, creating flyers, and providing the covid safety materials. On your end, we were hoping for more promotions through your church connections and with the congregation. It would be great for you to share the event with the congregation during worship, put something in your newsletter/ email chain, and possibly gather a few volunteers that are interested in helping. Again, we are hoping to get a bigger turn-out with more action this time around. In Sahuarita we did the event from 9AM to 2PM, and it seemed like we should have stayed a little longer in the afternoon as we had people showing up still minutes before closing to sign. We prefer to do our drive-thrus on Saturday's. Is there a weekend that is good for St. Marks? We can start working on a flyer as soon as we find a date, and of course you talk things over with the session.On Fri, Jan 29, 2021 at 12:23 PM Margo Cowan <Margo...@pima.gov> wrote:Sisters…please see Bart’s email below…please email him details…thanks!

I could maybe get that through by the end of February.
Myra contacted me but we’re playing phone tag. If you talk to her or Katie, please have them email me as many details as they can so I can get a team together.

I forgot to add that I could maybe see if St. Mark’s could make a $3,500 donation between now and May. Gwyn and I would advocate for that if the other option didn’t work out.

That’s a difficult position to be in. Please let me know if the landlord will let you out. I really think there are a lot of tangible and intangible benefits to this being headquartered at Saint Marks.
No, I would also be willing to fund raise in addition to this offer. I actually think this would strengthen my appeal two other churches because I could say that my congregation has some serious skin in the game. We could even get a team of people at Saint Marks to try to help. That said, I couldn’t give this any significant attention before June due to other things I’m working on.
Please let me know what your landlord says.
Gratefully,
Bart

Good morning Bart,
I appreciate the offer, unfortunately we are bound in a lease agreement that expires November 2022…I will talk to the owner to see if we can get out of it without incurring huge liability. Does this offer mean you are not in a position to contact churches and raise money for the Campaign? I’ll let you know what the landlord says. Many thanks for whatever you are willing and able to do to support this critical work…we really need money ASAP.
Best professional regards,
Margo

Hey, Margo,
I put my head together with Gwyn Roske, who's a St. Markan active with all sorts of causes and one who sits on the church's administration (finance and property) committee. If you agree to it, Gwyn and I are prepared to advocate for office space for the campaign from starting in May of this year. Educational Enrichment Foundation is vacating their space on the northeast corner of the property and I think a solid argument can be made for St. Mark's to offer PCJFA office space rent-free. EEF was paying $1,200 a month.
I know the idea isn't your first choice, but hear me out. The space would be free, clean, centrally located, solar powered, and with ample (covered) parking. Broadway's going to be a mess for some time... You'd also have free wifi, access to the church copier and other office supplies, and when covid clears, office volunteers who can help with mailings and such. And as you know, before the pandemic St. Mark's was a community hub for all sorts of good work, NMD and Casa Mariposa Detention Visitation Program included. When you have trainings, town halls, etc. the church sanctuary would be a natural place for large meetings. By my calculations, this saves the campaign at least $1,500 a month, which over an 18 month period is $27,000.
If you want to go for this, Gwyn and I will go to bat for you. Let me know.
Bart

Good afternoon Bart,
The breakdown is as follows:
· Campaign Manager: $10/hr= $1800./month (undoc mom);
· Rent: $1435./mo;
· Internet / Phone / social media fees: @ $265./mo.
· Total: @$3500./mo.
As you can see the $3500. is bare bones…I hustle everything else in-kind…I need cash to put out quality, exciting, eye-catching literature…not something run-off on some office printer…I need to fire this campaign up and get some “mojo” going…we have a good supply of previously purchased yard signs, t-shirts and other merchandise…we give the signs away for free because the signs are key to creating visibility for the campaign…we sell everything else.
Please do what you can as fast as you can…if you meet with folks and want me along just let me know…
Many thanks…
Margo

Thanks, Margo. Let me see what I can do. What's the breakdown of the $3,500; what's rent, salary, supplies?

Good afternoon…
The bare bones campaign operating expenses are $3500. per month and I need $10,000. to produce the required sophisticated literature pieces for neighborhood precinct signature collection organizing that needs to get fired up now! $3500 x 3 months= $10,500 + $10,000 to produce literature pieces is $20,500.
My ask to you is call the churches in town that you know can contribute a significant part of the $20,500. Quickly…once we get off the ground contributions will roll in but we need to fire up! I raised and spent almost $100k from September 2019 through Mach 2020…please help us brother...we really need to get this Campaign off the ground! Once we’re rolling money will come but we’ve got to get going!
Let me know what you think…I know you can do this!
ADELANTE!
