Streams not playing with live_api_player.swf

Hi there, I've been having some issues with streams (with smaller view counts) not playing since the most recent update. Here's an example the debug output:

These issues just started today (or last night).

rockenroll4life is a Twitch stream, and I'm pretty sure with the recent changes you have to use the Twitch embed player for Twitch streams now.

That would make sense however this issue isn't consistent. Broadcasters with large view counts work. In addition this issue happens with both the twitch and jtv live api swf. 

If the embed must be used why does the live api swf still work at all?

Is there an open api to the new embed that allows for custom player integration?
