In addition to my role, I'm also a part of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team, and I prepare the yearly awareness plan, create content and host training and awareness events to address biases and increase inclusion in India.

While India is a diverse country, inclusion is still a growing concept and we are just about starting to understand the impact of an open dialogue on breaking through unconscious biases and stereotypes. Awareness about menopause is crucial as the average Indian woman has not been provided with enough resources and support to gracefully transition through this phase. The workplace conversations also help with having open dialogue with men, so that they are allies through this phase as supportive colleagues, friends and partners.

"When it's all said and done, Kevin Townsend was my one great love, though," Constance said, tearfully. "When he was murdered by the Muslim terrorists, a part of me died with him.' As she shed another tear for the former me, I felt the weight of my past hanging over me like a millstone, threatening to drag me to the depths of the sea."Constance, if you let it, the past can destroy you. It's entirely up to you whether you sink, swim, or fly. If you really loved Kevin, then you know he is safe. "She took a long moment to stare at him over her shoulder before answering. "You're in love with what we do," she corrected him."So?" he did not see much of a difference."One day you'll find a girlfriend and you'll forget about me," she assured him."And what about you? Will you forget about me?" he asked. His exhaustion made it sound ominous. She had difficulty thinking of what to say."Yeah, I'll forget about you," she admitted finally. She was not really sure of her answer; she just did not.

As the COVID-19 pandemic began surging globally, clinicians and medical ethicists were concerned that the demand for potentially life-preserving resources like ventilators and ICU beds might overwhelm supply. Oncologists, in particular, realized that everyone involved in the oncology community needed thoughtful guidelines for dealing with difficult resource decisions. As a result, the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) developed a set of ethical guidelines for protecting the rights of cancer patients while also considering the larger demands the pandemic is placing on public health at large.

I love using online annotation tools and having students submit assignments through Google Classroom. I have learned, however, that some students really do need paper copies, and that everyone benefits from a balance of digital and paper assignments. Even middle school students get tired of looking at screens all the time.

This summer I visited several schools in Germany as a participant in the Transatlantic Outreach Program. One thing that struck me was the lack of technology in German classrooms. In conversations with students and teachers, I learned that German students are just as addicted to their phones as students in the United States, but technology use in the classroom is limited. There were computer labs and other places to use technology at school, but the typical classroom had just a whiteboard and desks. This reminds me that 1:1 does not mean students should be on their devices all the time. Good teaching can happen without a computer.

This broad national group will draw interdisciplinary participation from both practitioner and researcher groups. Participants will identify issues, discuss possible solutions, and create prototypes and materials that address equity and inclusion in technology-rich learning environments.

This workshop will encourage the exchange of innovative ideas, surface challenges and opportunities, connect practical and research-based expertise, and form cross-institutional and cross-community partnerships that envision, propose, and implement opportunities that support our collective understanding. Outcomes will address equity and inclusion for all learners.

I have long advocated that our literacy classrooms would do well to design instructional opportunities that connect students with online writing communities. Doing so gives students authentic audiences for their creative work, helps them develop important digital literacy practices, and bridges in- and out-of-school literacies in meaningful ways. In particular, I have argued that fanfiction spaces such as archiveofourown.org and fanfiction.net, where writers post creative works based on their interest in storylines, settings, characters, and worlds from existing books, television shows, and other media, offer important scaffolds for writers and allow teachers to meet literacy standards as they guide youth to write for online audiences.
