Call for Papers:
ICLP 2023 Workshop on Abduction & Argumentation in Logic Programming
associated with ICLP 2023, London, UK, one day among
9th-10th July, 2023.
Abduction
and Argumentation have been studied in Logic Programming (LP) since the
very early part of 1990. Today they form an integral part of
Explainable AI and the aim of neural-symbolic integration. Most of the
systems for Abduction and Argumentation have implementations in Logic
Programming with these being used to develop prototype applications.
The
proposed workshop will offer the opportunity to take a retrospective
stock of the link between LP and these two forms of reasoning while at
the same time considering how LP enables their application in realistic
AI problems.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
* Relation of abduction, argumentation and logic programming
* link between abduction and argumentation
* link between argumentation and logic
* operational semantics and execution models of abduction and argumentation systems
* machine learning argumentation theories in logic programming
* role of abduction in machine learning
* argumentation and abduction in multiagent systems
* implementations of abductive and argumentation systems
* defeasible logic programming and argumentation
*
argumentation tools and applications, for example in multiagent
systems, legal reasoning, the semantic web, practical reasoning and
deliberation, and commonsense reasoning
Submission
Submissions
should be 7 - 14 pages in PDF format, including abstract, figures and
references, and according to the CEUR-WS template (single column). The
reviewing will be single-blind. All submissions will be made
electronically through the EasyChair conference system at:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=abar2023At least
one of the authors will be required to register and attend the ICLP
conference to present the paper in order for it to be included in the
workshop proceedings.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Given the
fact that there will be another two workshops at ICLP2023 on
Argumentation this workshop will only consider papers that contain an
explicit element of the link of their work to Logic Programming.
Important dates
* Submission deadline: 19th May 2023 (AoE)
