I noticed that several readthedocs default to the latest docs and not the stable docs. Here is an example:

In the print screened google search (attached) for "Jupyterhub docs" the primary result is "https://jupyterhub.readthedocs.io/ "

this sends me to "https://jupyterhub.readthedocs.io/en/latest/" when really the default would be better off as "https://jupyterhub.readthedocs.io/en/stable/"

I initially discovered this with the ipywidget docs and raised a github issue. This has resulted in the default being the stable docs.

Hi Joshua,

Thanks for the heads up, and indeed readthedocs default to latest.
I have switched to stable all the projects I have access to, but I
don't have access to that many project on readthedocs.
(We should check that)
It should take a few days to propagate to search engines.

Thanks,

Hi all,

Some of the documentation (in particular JupyterHub) evolves as the project grows. In this case, it is more beneficial for users to have access, by default, to the most recent latest documentation. Version 0.7.2, the current release, is available via the ReadTheDocs menu.

For the short term (at least until JupyterHub 0.8 ships), I would like the JupyterHub docs to continue to point to the latest docs by default. The latests docs have more user friendly features such as the newer integrated docs theme, driven by Brian and the CalPoly interns, and better content organization.

Thanks!

Carol
