IPython build fom source

Hi,

where has the documentation gone how to build Jupyter (IPython) from source? It was available until version 3.

Hi Michael,

Most of our packages can be installed from the source directory like any other Python package, by running:

pip install .

The notebook needs some extra pieces to build Javascript components; the information about that is available here:
http://jupyter-notebook.readthedocs.io/en/latest/contributing.html#setting-up-a-development-environment

thanks a lot for the pointers; this helps. I was circling here https://jupyter.readthedocs.io/en/latest/developer-docs/index.html and did not came to a termination of the loop :-)
