attached images in markdown cells of jupyter notebooks

Anyone figured out how to properly share notebooks in the web (gist or nbviewer) so that attached images in markdown cells of jupyter notebooks are rendered properly?

These attached images are automagically generated when pasting images to markdown cells and the syntax looks like this:


But when I upload the notebooks the result is rendered as blank image [image.png].
