middle-click paste in Jupyter-Notebook

My apologies if this has been asked a thousand times, but the Linux middle-click paste doesn't seem to work in the Jupyter Notebook (my config: linux Mint Mate, Firefox, latest Jupyter).

The only report I could find is this quite outdated one:

Any pointer on how to activate the middle-click paste in the notebook?

Hi Fabien,

In Firefox, it's a known issue that you can't middle-click paste into a codemirror instance (codemirror is the text editor component we use in cells):

There's a more recent issue that says it's broken in Chrome as well, but no-one has responded to that yet:

I get from these threads that this is not something that will be solved tomorrow ;-) I doesn't matter that much, but for a fervent user of the middle-click like me it is quite annoying!
