If you run the notebook with the jupyter notebook  --allow-root this will remove the error.

I am getting this error: "Running SingleNotebookApp as root is not recommended. Use --allow-root to bypass."  Can anyone offer any insight as to how to correct this.  I'm using Oauth2 as a generic authenticator.  System OS is RHEL 7

I am not much aware about how exactly the service works, but from a logical point of view, there should be some code that triggers the notebook.
Can you share the service code, I can give a look.

Hello

If you start jupyter using service as a system daemon, you need to add run without root option in the systemd script startup file.

Thanks & Regards

I fixed this a couple of days ago, there were a couple of config changes I had to pass into the spawner args
