Jupyter Notebook Performance Issues

Hi,

We run a small computer cluster with an NFS storage backend (in raid5); the performance is generally really good until people start utilising Jupyter Notebooks.

We see crazy high write loads on our arrays as soon as anyone starts a notebook.

I'm not a developer/user of notebooks myself so I don't understand why there's such a high load; can somebody please point me in the right direction on how we can resolve the issues or what information we should be providing to our users to ease the load?
