MathBox

Hello everyone!

I would like to make sure you're all aware of the existence of MathBox: https://github.com/unconed/mathbox

I think it is potentially a very powerful educational tool and visualisation tool.

It would be nice to see it integrated with Python/IPython; it will handle things like dynamic 3D plots that MatPlotLib really isn't designed for.

It's got a steep learning curve currently due to lack of documentation.

I'm going to help out a little here.

But the author is around on IRC (Freenode) on #mathbox and he is willing to help people get started.

Anyway, if anyone succeeds in some IPython integration, please post up!

I've been a fan of Steven's since seeing his "Making Things with Maths" video on YouTube. I didn't think I was going to master Javascript just to use MathBox, so it would be a good idea to incorporate it into IPython. If only we could just wave a magic wand!

For an example of a 3D plot in a Jupyter notebook, go to 

http://mybinder.org/repo/BruceSherwood/vpython-jupyter

and choose "Plot 3D function", which uses WebGL through the vpython module.

I notice that clicking the animated 3D plot doesn't stop and start the animation, which I guess is an artifact of running in shared myBinder servers. Clicking does work when running locally.
