Hi All,

I am participating in some research to assess this tool for use at my
company. I really like the concept of how teams can review issues
using xml files and how it seemlessly links into Eclipse.

However I can't seem to get the tool to work on my Eclipse. I think I
must be doing something really stupid as the configuration is really
straightforward. Basically the problem i'm having is that when I add a
Jupiter issue (right-clicking the source code line), fill in the
details and save, the .review file remains blank. I would expect it to
contain details about the issue just saved.

This means that when I click on the team review tab, there are no
issues that are displayed. I've tried submitting issues with different
reviewer IDs but still, the review files remain blank:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Review id="testRev"></Review>

Has anyone had this problem? Or make any suggestions on what this
could be?

Kind Regards

Hello,

I have a few questions that I always ask so I can try to replicate any
issues that people on an environment close to theirs.

What version of Eclipse are you using and on what operating system?

Also, in your workspace there should be a metadata folder with a log
file inside of it. Can you see if there are any Jupiter related issues
listed there? Or feel free to paste the contents here, I can have a
look for you.

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Julie,

Thanks for your reply,

I haved checked the .log file but from what I can see there is no
reference to Jupiter in there (did a simple string search on
"JUPITER").

My Eclipse version is 3.5.2.M20100211-1343 -
org.eclipse.platform.ide. I'm running it on windows XP 2002 SP3.

Really confused about this one, i'm sure it must be something simple!

Kind Regards

Just an addition to my previous post.... i've downloaded the lastest
Indigo version (Eclipse Platform 3.7.2.M20120208-0800) from the
Eclipse site and installed the same Jupiter plugin version and It
worked first time!

I'm limited to using the specified version in my previous post in my
work environment, perhaps there is an issue with this version?

Kind Regards

Hello again,
It should work with 3.5. It was definitely tested with Galileo. Do you
know which bundle you are using (i.e. Eclipse Classic, for Java
Developers, for C/C++, etc.)?

I will test it today.

Thanks,
Julie

I tried the latest version of Jupiter with a fresh copy of Galileo and
it seems to be ok. I am using Java 6 with the Java developers bundle.

Do you know if the review folder is being created ok? And if there are
any files in it?

Thanks,
Julie

The IDE package is Eclipse IDE for Java Developers,

Yes the folder is being created ok aswell as all of the review files.
This is the strange thing as it would suggest it is not a permissions
issue or anything simular. I can change the reviewer ID, create a
Jupiter issue and it creates the appropriate .review file but it's
blank (just has the header information) creating further issues are
successful but the review files is not updated, when the Jupiter icon
is clicked again to refresh, all issues raised disappear.

The Eclipse version we are using comes pre-bundled with quite a few
other plugins installed, I'm now wondering if anything there is
causing an issue?

Regards

Pete

Hello again,
That is strange indeed. Typically once the folder and files are there it works ok. Usually other plugins don't conflict. I think if it is having errors it would have made an entry in the log file. The only thing I can think of is some exception is being unintentionally swallowed in the code or something is holding a file a lock on the files so Jupiter is unable to update them.

Are you able to create new subsequent reviews okay (create several in a row and see if those save)? Just to help my understanding, restarting Eclipse and opening the review up again doesn't work does it?

I'm trying to think of what else it could be.
