Hi..it's been a while since I have used the Beacon, but I wanted to get the latest information regarding the use of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) called 1 and 1 that we were using over the past few years as a complementary service for JR.net emails.

Many of us signed up for this ISP when we joined the computer club, and after Rose stepped down from her role as the Website manager, it was my understanding that we would still have complimentary access to this ISP as it was part of the JR administrative system. I recently learned from one of our JR neighbors that he could no longer access the internet through 1 and 1, and I do not recall seeing any notice to that effect being sent to all of the residents.

Would whoever is now in charge of this function please clarify what the JR community ISP is, and who is adminitering it. Also and do we still have complimentary use of this service.

Thank you for your response and clarification of this issue.
Sincerely.

The HOA has dropped 1 and 1 and with it went the jremail.net. I as part of what is left of the computer lost all bank and hotspot notifications.

Hi Dan,
1&1 was an expense to the JRHOA that discontinued when we changed to our new website, Juniper Ridge Resort.  We verified that we only had appx. 6 residents using the JR.net.email in our process. There is a limited number of emails included with an option for additional emails for an additonal price. We maintained the juniper ridge resort domain along with Board and committees emails.  It was thought it not worth the additional expense, especially when there is free ones available such as Google's gmail.  We did attempt to notify those residents with the JR.net.email but considered it a minor issue with all the changes being made. As far as notice, the September 27, 2013 Board Meeting Minutes served in providing information about a change to At Home Net. for our new website.  After rereading, I see those minutes do not included explicit information about the discontinuation of 1&1.   It was noone's intention to create a problem with this change, so we certainly apologize for this inconvenience of an interruption of service to those members that still used the jr.net.emails.  We think the new website will be a huge improvement, especially administratively as homeowners will be able to keep their own personal information including emails updated along with one data base for JRHOA communication to the community.  Communications Committee is still working along with Jeannie Johnson, JRHOA Admin. Assist. on our new website with future plans for training residents this summer. It is premature to state how committees or club may use the site however it is being considered.  Maggie St. Laurent sits on Communications Committee and is asking emails be directed to her with problems pertaining to the new website.

Respectfully,
Nancy Sather
