Hi Junior Dropouts,
I just wanted to mention a couple of cycling camps that take place in the region this summer in case you want to consider them as you make summer plans.  If you know of others, please post to the group.

1) Michigan Tech Mountain Bike Camp, Houghton, Michigan. June 13-17. Led by Brian Matter from Sheboygan (http://b-matter.blogspot.com/). Brian has raced cyclocross in Europe many times and has won the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival and most other big races around these parts. Our daughter Emma did this camp last year and so did Ben from the Junior Dropouts. It is for 8th thru 12th graders (Fall 2012). Last year there were 10 girls and 4 boys in the camp! The MTU cross country and nordic ski coach is involved also, so this is a first rate opportunity.  There is some great terrain in the Keweenaw. Both of my kids (Caleb 12, Emma 15) will do the camp this year and we are looking for ride share options to/from the U.P.

2) USA Cycling Junior Development Regional Camp (Road) - LaCrosse, Wi. July 29 - Aug 03. See <

3) We had a very successful cyclocross camp at Badger Prairie last September with 11 area juniors joining the fun. I think we  should do that again. If anyone who attended last  year has input or ideas on how to make the event even better, please drop me a note.

I think it would be great to get some Junior Dropouts involved in these camps and do some ride sharing too.

Happy Riding,
Andy Swartz
