Wonderful service opportunities

Please see the email below from Mrs. Duquette regarding a wonderful service opportunity. I know many of you need hours to advance. Thanks for your help.

As some of you may be aware, many families in town support Providence Englewood Charter School.  It's a K-8 charter school that has massively improved student performance in its 10 years of existence.  Almost all of their graduates attend competitive high schools, and most go on to college. Before PECS launched the charter school, the situation was dire. PECS gives struggling kids a future.  

To celebrate their first decade, the school has many activities planned, one of which is a Family Celebration Day on March 5th from noon to 2:00 p.m.  It will be similar to the New Trier Carnival where there are lots of booths with activities, games and prizes. Please see the attached flyer. The school is located at 6515 South Ashland Avenue, Chicago. 

The Girl Scout troops are sponsoring a few booths, and we'd love to have the Boy Scouts there as well.  Indeed, Troop 13 was instrumental in PECS opening it's doors 10 years ago.  Boy Scouts assembled desks, cleaned class rooms and made sure the school was a welcoming environment for a new flock of eager students.

I would love to have some of you join us so Kenilworth can offer a few more booths for the kids.  It's a great opportunity to engage in meaningful and fun service work.

The time commitment is minimal:  planning an activity or game, buying prizes, and arriving at PECS around 11 a.m. on March 5th to set up.  I expect we will leave the school by 3:00 p.m.

This does not have to be a Boy Scout activity.  Perhaps you'd like to come just with your family for the day.  We expect this to be lots of fun for everyone.
