Dear Neighborhood Association (NA) representatives and members,
NOTE: We will now be meeting at the Andrew Hope Building, 320 West Willoughby Ave (NOT Coppa)
December 11, 2019
5 - 6:30PM
Thank you for your responses to my earlier email proposing to meet to discuss neighborhood impacts from Cruise Ship tourism. I received many responses and interest from you.
Since my last email inviting you to meet, I spoke with the Mayor and the City attorney and they strongly suggested that our meeting be an "Open Meeting". Therefore, we will open it up. Since we may attract more people, the meeting location will now be at the Andrew Hope Building (Central Council Tlingit Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska HQ), 320 West Willoughby Ave., not Coppa Cafe. The date and time will stay Dec 11th, at 5:00 - 6:30 PM. Please let anyone you forwarded my previous emails to know about the change.
As planned, while anyone may attend, the focus of the meeting will be a discussion among NA representatives about the impacts you and your members are experiencing from the cruise ship industry in their neighborhood, both positive and negative, and how these impacts affect individuals' quality of life. Please feel free to spread the word among the NA representatives and members.
If you have not already sent an RSVP so we know how many NAs will be represented and if it will be one or two who plan on attending.
As mentioned in my earlier email, please take some time
to develop responses to the following categories of focus or other issues you
think important. Be specific and give examples relative to quality of life
(however you define that) in Juneau, and please add actions for consideration.
As I mentioned previously below are suggestions of issues to
comment on, and feel free to mention anything else you think is important. Please email me if you have any questions.
