Calhoun Ave: Weigh-in with Planning Commission this weekend, Hearing on Tuesday

Hi Neighbors,

The Planning Commission's hearing on the Calhoun Ave rebuild project is this Tuesday at 7pm. The project managers have made it abundantly clear that they will not consider meaningful improvements for pedestrians and bikers unless the Planning Commission and Assembly direct them to expand the scope of the project.

Here's how you can help ensure that there is a thoughtful planning process that considers the needs of all users:

1)  Write a brief email to the Planning Commission, pc_co...@juneau.org, by noon on Monday, 1/11. Include how you use the Calhoun Ave corridor, your concerns, and ask to consider safety for pedestrians and bikers (making the sidewalks higher but not making them wider is not enough).

2) Add your name to the Downtown Neighborhood Association's Statement of Interest by entering it here.

3) Attend and testify for up to two minutes at the Planning Commission hearing on Tuesday, 1/12 at 7pm (note that the Capital Park meeting is that same night at 6pm; if you're worried about attending both, please be sure to email your comments to the Planning Commission).
