Apologies for cross-posting

Hi Neighbors,

I'm forwarding on this announcement about the Calhoun Ave meeting that the CBJ is scheduling for Thursday, 2/25 at 6pm. I am told that this should feel more collaborative than the last meeting hosted by CBJ and project engineers in December. Please bring your best ideas!

One idea that we've been learning about is advisory bike lanes/suggestion lanes/edge lanes roads. Check out this presentation or this guide if you'd like to learn more. The general concepts are that:

* Vehicular travel would remain two-way. When only one car is on the street they would use the center (as they do now.)

* This would function much like other streets downtown where cars move to the side when passing each other.

* In addition to creating a safer space for bikes the design has also been shown to slow down traffic and reduce crashes

I'm wondering if we could build consensus around this idea.

I know there have been a lot of meetings. Thanks for sticking in there with this next one (and the one after that, when the issue will be back before the Planning Commission on March 9th.)

Take care,

- Emily & Demian

CBJ's meeting announcement:

Re: Calhoun Avenue Reconstruction Neighborhood Progress Update

Progress Meeting

The CBJ and ProHNS will be holding a virtual meeting on Thursday February 25, 2021 at 6:00pm to update property owners and interested residents about the progress on the design of the Calhoun Avenue Reconstruction project.  We have collectively put together options that may address many concerns that have been mentioned by the public.

The CBJ is looking forward to hearing any questions or comments regarding these options and encourage everyone to attend.

Typically, the CBJ conducts in-person neighborhood meetings as outreach and to answer questions the public may have.  Due to COVID-19 we will not have an in-person meeting, but you are encouraged to attend a live Zoom meeting where you can listen to a presentation of the project and be a part of a live Q/A with the CBJ project manager and the design engineer.  The following information will allow you to access and attend the live online Zoom meeting.
