Reunion Plans for June 2013

Hi Coursemates,

I have started this google group under an innocuous name to start preps for a course reunion in June 2013. As many of you might know, we of the 72 NDA Course had approached NDA to hold a Silver Jubilee in Dec this year (as the June 2012 slot was already taken). Being posted in Pune I was the Course Coordinator, as per the SOP of NDA.

Due to recent developments, NDA decided to cancel all reunions except Golden Jubilees. This is actually a blessing in disguise for a number of reasons. For one, we had inadvertently entered into a situation where we would be celebrating without a large number of our coursemates, the Direct Entries, Techies and Ex ACC types, among whom we can all count close friends. In fact I have been in touch with only a handful of coursemates throughout the last 25 yrs and there are DEs and Ex NDAs among them.

It will be a great achievement for 82 Regular Course and the equivalent courses of the IN and IAF, if we can get ourselves together over a weekend to mark 25 years as commissioned offrs. OK, OK, I can hear the Navy say they were commissioned 6 months earlier than us, but we can drink to that -- on them!

What we need to do at this stage is:-

1. Agree in Proinciple and each one of us spread the news to any coursemates in service and those who have left.

2. Build up a databank of contacts.

3. Decide on a venue and date (in June 2013) - Some place where we and our families can spend at least 48 hours together. We think Pune is a good place as CPS Pasricha is posted in CME YO Wing and has promised accn.

hi steve,

gr8 going. am in. pune is the ideal place for many reasons. making this a joint story with DEs and Techies is gr8. lets do it. we may need to have larger number of coordinators. lets keep 72 NDA sqn coordinators as they were, DEs and Techs can have their coordinators Company wise(IMA company) less the NDA types.

Thanks Pillay. It will take a while to get some traction on this, but I am hopeful that as the message spreads we should be able to get together in respectable numbers. The thing is for everyone to spread the word and let me have emails of any guys who are not in so that I can send out invites. No, please publicise the plan to have a 82Reg Reunion at Pune in Jun 2013 but  DO NOT mention this group please. In service we are NOT allowed to start these Groups and that is why I have tried to name it innocuously. I am myself handling Cyber Security in an official capacity right now and so i know how they are trawling for these groups etc as clear instr have been issued by DGMI. For that reason, I have deleted my facebook account!

So please, bear it in mind and dont publicise the group through print outs -- only word of mouth!
