Dear Friends,
Let’s consider March a month of rest from our needs exercise and see what shakes out in April.
For the past several weeks I’ve been assigned to jury duty. Today we started deliberations. Before we went into the jury room to deliberate, I assumed we could take an immediate poll and finish up in a matter of minutes. To me it was a slam dunk case with very little to discuss. I was shocked when people started bringing up observations, perceptions, and suspicions that had never occurred to me throughout the trial. There was a variety of opinions, and even notes taken by different people while listening to the same testimony contained discrepancies. How in the world can we ever come to an agreement over the facts, when we all see the facts so differently? It’s going to be an interesting experience and likely a great opportunity to practice my somewhat rusty NVC skills. (I say rusty, because in retrospect I could have communicated with greater skill today.)
I’m reading a good book right now called Radical Remission about cancer patients who have cured their cancer through a variety of non-traditional ways. The author has researched thousands of cases and interviewed hundreds of former patients. She came up with 9 elements that seem to be common to all such remission cases. One of the elements is the type of emotional healing that I observed at the IIT as well as the ongoing approach to dealing with feelings and needs that we do. Community is also an important part of creating optimal health, and this particular community (all of you), is like really good medicine for me.
Hope you are all well and enjoying life!
Love,
Peggy
